Brain Navi Receives TFDA Certification for its KrystoLens

Brain Navi Biotechnology Achieves Key Regulatory Milestone Following Recognition at the 22nd National Innovation Award.

Brain Navi Biotechnology has announced that its KrystoLens, the single-use neuro-endoscope, has officially received certification from the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA), marking an important milestone in the company’s development in medical imaging and endoscopic applications.

Following its recognition at the 22nd National Innovation Award earlier this year, KrystoLens has once again gained attention for its product innovation and clinical potential. The TFDA certification confirms that the product complies with Taiwan’s medical device regulatory requirements and paves the way for its formal introduction into the local healthcare market.

Developed with clinical needs in mind, KrystoLens is designed to help reduce the risk of cross-infection, improve ease of operation, and expand the surgical field of view. Brain Navi Biotechnology aims to provide medical institutions with a more efficient and flexible endoscopic solution.

With demand for minimally invasive surgery and high-quality medical imaging continuing to grow, Brain Navi plans to begin a full-scale market push in Taiwan in the second-half of 2026 and will be working closely with medical institutions, distribution partners, and clinical professionals to accelerate the adoption of KrystoLens in clinical settings.

Brain Navi Biotechnology stated that the TFDA certification represents a key step in the commercialization of KrystoLens and reflects the company’s continued progress in research and development, quality management, and regulatory strategy.

Looking ahead, Brain Navi Biotechnology will make Taiwan an important starting point for building clinical experience, expanding market presence, and supporting future international development. Through KrystoLens, Brain Navi Biotechnology aims to bring new possibilities to medical imaging technology and contribute to the growth of Taiwan’s medical technology industry.

Germany’s First Robotic Brain Surgery Experience with NaoTrac Reported at EANS 2025

At the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS 2025) Congress in Vienna, Austria, Prof. Dr. Ehab Shiban and Dr. Petros Evangelou from the Medizinische Universität Lausitz – Carl-Thiem-Klinikum Cottbus presented the first German clinical experience with NaoTrac, the autonomous neurosurgical navigation robot developed by Brain Navi Biotechnology.

During the first three days of clinical use and training, five patients underwent seven neurosurgical procedures, including biopsies, catheter placements, and craniotomy planning.

According to Prof. Shiban, the system performed patient registration within seconds, reducing anesthesia and preparation time — without the complex setup procedures required by conventional navigation systems.

NaoTrac automatically recognized and calibrated each surgical tool through its unique smart identification system, maintaining workflow consistency and robotic precision.

After the surgeon defined the entry and target points, the robot autonomously followed the planned trajectory with controlled motion as slow as 0.5 mm per second.

This steady and ultra-precise movement enabled access to deep-seated intracranial targets—including lesions in eloquent and hard-to-reach areas such as the thalamus and brainstem—achieving sub-millimeter accuracy with no intraoperative bleeding recorded.

This milestone demonstrates how autonomous robotic assistance can enhance surgical precision, reproducibility, and safety—supporting neurosurgeons while keeping full control in their hands.

In Germany, the NaoTrac program is directed by Nelson Farfan Espada, who brings his experience from a series of world-leading international ventures. Working closely with the Brain Navi engineering team from Taiwan and German service specialists, he drives the initiative behind the scenes to ensure seamless strategic, clinical, and technical alignment.
