NTI announced its NEBULAE™ I System, High-flow Laparoscopic Insufflator, has been awarded an Innovative Technology contract from Vizient, Inc., the largest member-driven health care performance improvement company in the country. The contract was based on a recommendation of NEBULAE I System by hospital experts in this category who serve on one of Vizient’s member-led councils.
The NEBULAE I System is designed to provide optimal visualization, clinical and economic value by managing the pneumoperitoneum environment for a broad array of laparoscopic procedures from pediatric to bariatric and robotic. Its modular design allows the surgeon and hospital to tailor the features used to efficiently manage spend by only adding functionality when needed. The system also includes the ability to provide up to 20 liters-per-minute of smoke evacuation with stable pneumoperitoneum while helping to protect scopes from fogging through a combination of the NEBULAE High-flow Smoke Evacuation Tubing Set, TAP Sensing Tubing Set, and the reusable in-line CO2 gas warmer. “We are excited to bring NTI’s 38 years of insufflation innovation to Vizient members via this agreement and to help optimize both spend and performance in creating optimal laparoscopic and robotic surgical environments,” said David McDonough, VP and General Manager, Northgate Technologies, Inc.
“Hospitals and providers are looking for innovations that offer unique and cumulative benefit over other products available on the market today. Our member council determined this technology met the criteria to be awarded with the Innovative Technology contract. Congratulations to Northgate Technologies on receiving this status,” said Debbie Archer, director of procurement and Vizient Innovative Technology Program leader.
Vizient represents a diverse membership base that includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers and represents approximately $100 billion in annual purchasing volume. Through its Innovative Technology Program, Vizient works with member-led councils and task forces to review potentially innovative products. If it is determined that a product is innovative, Vizient may award a contract outside of the competitive bid cycle.
