ROEN Surgical Announces First Oversea Clinical Live of its Zamenix Robot

ROEN Surgical has announced that it has successfully conducted the first oversea clinical live of its AI-based kidney stone surgery robot Zamenix in Thailand. This demonstration was held in connection with the International Robotics and Urology Symposium (RIRS2025) at Ramathibodi Medical University Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand on the 20th~21st.

The symposium is designed to share medical advances in the field of robotic and endoscopic urological surgery. This year, more than 100 experts from around the world attended the event, which included presentations on the latest innovative research in urology and clinical live surgery.

The Zamenix Live Surgery, which was held on the 21st, was the first to be shown to Asian countries, and received great attention from medical staff in Southeast Asian countries. In particular, due to the influence of high temperature and minerals in drinking water, the need and potential of Zamenix have been demonstrated in Southeast Asia, where the incidence of kidney stones is high.

The surgery was led by Prof. Chinnakhet Ketsuwan of Ramathibodi Hospital, and Prof. Cho Sung-Yong of Seoul National University Hospital and ROEN Surgical collaborated. During the conference, ROEN Surgical performed demonstration surgeries on six Thai patients, demonstrating Zamenix’s technology in difficult cases such as narrow ureters or stones in various locations.

Zamenix is the world’s first AI-based fully robotic kidney stone surgery robot, and a 2.8mm flexible endoscope removes kidney stones without an incision. Innovative AI technologies such as respiratory compensation, endoscopic path regeneration, and stone size guidance have been combined to greatly improve the precision and safety of surgery.

Prof. Chinnaket said, “I was impressed by Korea’s cutting-edge surgical robot technology while using Zamenix myself,” and added, “Zamenix is an excellent product that has greatly improved patient safety and convenience for medical staff, even in difficult stone surgeries.”

Dong-Soo Kwon, CEO of ROEN Surgical said, “Following the signing of the Indonesian copyright agreement earlier this year, this live event solidified the foundation for Zamenix’s entry into the Asian market” and added, “This year, we plan to focus on promoting the excellence of Korean surgical robots to the world.”

ROEN Surgical is continuing its global expansion by promoting its technology at major international urological conferences in Asia along with the approval of non-salary use for Zamenix to enter the domestic market.
