He also led the expansion of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Latin America, demonstrating his global vision and passion for advancing surgical technology in new territories. An expert in robotic surgery (#RAS) and minimally invasive robotic surgery (#MIRS), and knowledgeable in the latest trends in artificial intelligence applied to surgery, he also holds an MBA from IE Business School, as well as other prestigious credentials.
Samuel says: ‘We are entering a new and exciting phase reinforcing our commitment to driving global accessibility to precision surgery, focused on providing our clients with the latest technological advances and enabling more patients to benefit from these advances’.
‘Samuel is here to help us universalise the benefits of precision surgery. His experience, vision and strategic insight will help implement Rob Surgical’s approach to robotic surgery,’ says Jaume Amat, CEO of Rob Surgical.
Steadily moving forward
The new Commercial Director joins Rob Surgical at a pivotal moment. The company’s value proposition is based on three pillars: high precision and safety that benefits the patient, superior usability for the surgeon and a significant reduction in the total cost per surgery that benefits hospitals, as it does not require a dedicated operating room, requires fewer staff, requires no prior training and supports hybrid surgeries.
The company is awaiting accreditation for CE marking, which will allow it to start manufacturing and marketing in Europe. Since May 2023, it has been successfully operating on patients at the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona,
The company proposes a business model capable of intensifying the use of robotic surgery. Currently, the cost and complexity of robots limits the robot to operate only in an operating theatre adapted for this purpose, under the guidelines of a specialised surgeon, making it an expensive and limited process available to only a few.
Rob Surgical, on the other hand, pursues the goal of performing as many operations as possible, helping to ensure that all citizens have access to the benefits of high-precision surgery. With this purpose in mind, a robot has been designed capable of adapting to any operating theatre and with a usability that is accessible to any surgeon with minimal training. Rob Surgical has managed to configure a lightweight, ergonomic and transportable surgical platform, which allows transport between different operating rooms or hospitals, opening the door to the arrival of high-precision surgery to all patients, surgeons and hospitals.
