Farrer Park Hospital Introduces The Edge® Multi-Port Endoscopic Surgical Robot

Farrer Park Hospital (FPH) has announced the introduction of the Edge® Multi-Port Endoscopic Surgical Robot (MP1000) in Singapore. As FPH celebrates its 10th year, this milestone reflects its focus and commitment to value-based care by making advanced surgical care more affordable to patients in Singapore and the region.
Since the system entered clinical use on 23 September 2026, FPH surgeons have successfully completed two robotic-assisted urology procedures. Patients recovered as expected with no complications, and the outcomes were consistent with those of established robotic platforms.
Supporting patient care across surgical specialties
The introduction of the MP1000 expands the surgical options available at FPH across multiple specialties, performed by trained surgeons with the same standard of safety, care and surgical outcomes as existing market-leading robotic systems.
“Our tenth anniversary is a moment to reflect on why Farrer Park Hospital was founded: to deliver excellent care with comfort, fairness and value,” said Professor Maurice Choo, Executive Chairman, Farrer Park Hospital. “In today’s healthcare landscape driven by advancing technologies, robotic surgery should not be a premium reserved for a few. This new platform widens access to precise, minimally invasive surgery while helping to keep costs accessible for patients.”
“With any new surgical technology, patient safety comes first,” said Dr. Png Keng Siang, Senior Consultant Urologist. “With the MP1000, we can carry out complex urological procedures while protecting delicate structures nearby. Our first two patients recovered well, as we expected, and we are delighted to be able to offer this option to more patients.”
Value-based care in practice
Over the past decade, FPH has built its care model around one principle: good outcomes come from skilled clinicians, sound evidence and the right technology working together. With an ageing population and rising costs, the focus is moving from quality alone to value. That means outcomes that matter to patients, delivered safely and at a sustainable cost.
“idsMED is proud to partner with Farrer Park Hospital and EDGE Medical in bringing this advanced surgical robotic system to Singapore,” said Shrikanth Sankar Group Chief Operating Officer, idsMED Group & Country Managing Director, Singapore. “Together, we are driving the adoption of transformative healthcare technologies that empower clinicians, strengthen clinical excellence and help elevate standards of care in Singapore.”
